When could Oracle’s borrowing for AI create shareholder value?

Overview

This study asks when borrowing to expand Oracle’s AI infrastructure could create value for shareholders. Its central condition is that the return on borrowed capital must exceed financing costs, which depend on the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate cycle rather than Oracle alone. The analysis puts the total claim stack at $457.1 billion, including $288.0 billion in leases that have not yet begun. An author-illustrative calculation using changes in filing figures gives an incremental gross margin of 34%, compared with a 72% benchmark. Assuming 40% recovery, credit default swap spreads imply an annual risk-neutral default intensity of 2.35% to 5.72%; this market-pricing measure is not a forecast of actual defaults. A scenario model that values the business in separate parts puts equity value at $287.0 billion. The study also argues that ultimate consumer demand limits the financing loop and that assets lose economic value faster than accounting depreciation records.
